Happy Birthday, Mom!

My Mom’s birthday is today. She’s 77 years old. It’s amazing the life she’s had. She was born just before World War 2 and remembers where she was when it was declared that the war was over. She’s worked at cleaning houses, swabbing skins (leather mill), working in what was called at the time, an Old Folks Home. She’s worked in a knitting mill (sewing clothing) and in a factory that made mops, steel buckets and other things of steel.

She raised 6 kids. This gets its own line because that is an accomplishment all on its own.

Going to the casino to play the penny slots is one of her favorite things to do. She’s a reader and loves those historical fictions by John Jakes. She makes her own greeting cards. Travel is a special love and she’s been to visit me many times and in many places over the years. I’m going to guess her best trip was when I was stationed in England. I took her to London and to Paris. She had a lot of fun there.

Her life has not been an easy one but she’s made the most of it, no matter what. She’s an inspiration to me and I’m tearing up just writing it.

I love you, Mom. Have a very happy birthday.

So, now I’ve got to wipe my eyes and get back to editing the 2nd book in the Gulliver Station series, The Challenge. Have a great week, everyone.
